The Bioelectronics and Nanomedicine Research Center (BNRC) and the Office for Undergraduate Research invites proposals for the Bioelectronics and Nanomedicine Summer Research Program. The program is designed to spur transdisciplinary collaborations between research groups at UK in the fields of bioelectronics and nanomedicine and build further strength in these important research fields.
The summer research program will last for 10 weeks, with a kickoff meeting anticipated in mid to late May.
We anticipate awarding approximately 10 undergraduate and 5 graduate summer research fellowships.
Applications are due on Wednesday, March 5, and decisions will be made by late March. To apply, please fill out the form.

MIB Agents visit to Dr Richards Lab
“Macrophage Engineered Vesicles for Pediatric Osteosarcoma” is a grant led by Dr. Richards (UK) and sponsored by the MIB Agents. As part of the collaboration, the MIB representatives, Christina Ip-Toma (Director of Scientific Programs), Carolyne Richtarsic (Director of Finance), and Walker Smallwood (Junior Advisory Board) visited University of Kentucky on January 28th, 2025.
During the visit, the MIB guests shared their mission, programs, and inspiring stories; Dr Richards provided insights into the research up to date; Walker Smallwood, osteosarcoma survivor, shared his story.
The guests had a chance to tour the Markey Cancer Center facilities, the UK Light Microscopy Core, as well as the Bioelectronics and Nanomedicine Research Center, and Dr. Richards lab.
BNRC symposium
Save the date! 1st annual Bioelectronics and Nanomedicine Research Center Symposium is scheduled for September 26th.
BNRC Kick-off event
The kickoff event that took place May 7th was a success! Over 50 students and faculty learned about the Bioelectronics and Nanomedicine Research Center and the opportunities it offers. Thank you everyone for attending and making our center one step closer to its goals!
